It is so fun to create color palettes from your very own photos. This quick video of how to find the colors and add the colors to your swatch panel will help you get started. If you have additional questions, please let me know in the comments.
Recolor Artwork Steps
First, find a photo that you’ve taken that fills you with inspiration, and place the photo into an empty Illustrator file.
Create a simple shape to fill as you find your colors, and duplicate it as many times as you’d like to find colors.
Select the first shape, select the eyedropper tool (i), and then click around your picture until you find a color that helps you find a nice palette.
Move on to the next shape for a new color, and continue to fill shapes with colors to round out your palette.
Select all the shape you’ve made (and I recommend removing the stroke so you don’t add that as a color in your palette). Click on New Color Group in the swatches panel.
Now that you’ve created a color palette, check out my video about how to recolor your artwork.
